Hey guys,

I've recently purchased an Iphone 4 - without realising that it was on version 4.1 (8B117) and firmware 02.10.04. Now I have managed to Jailbreak it using greenpois0n but can't get the unlock ULTRASN0W to work.

I have been hearing / reading rumours that there is new unlock coming out called limesn0w. I just wanted some advice or help on what I need to do.
Should I:

1. Upgrade to 4.2.1 - but is there a jailbreak and unlock for that? And what are the tools required for that?

2. Sell this iphone and get hold of an iphone 4 which is unlockable?

3. Wait for some sort of unlock to come suitable for my iphone. But when is that likely?

I'm confused and your help / advice would greatly be appreciated. I used to be able to unlock 3GS iphones easily but iphone 4 seems to be a different ball game! I still haven't got round to SSH blobs etc.

Limesn0w is 100% fake - forget about it.

Not a good idea, the jailbreak for 4.2.1 is semi-tethered.
No unlock for 4.2.1 either, it is the baseband version that determines if you can unlock or not.

Better idea, or even better buy a "commitment free" / "officially unlocked" phone so you don't have to worry about keeping your phone unlocked in the future.

No release dates, I think they might have had some initial success - but it could take a while to turn a prototype unlock into something that works 100% and can be released.

So.. it could be anywhere from January to July before a new unlock is released.

the 3GS also had SHSH blobs, the only change with the iPhone 4 is that they added a special type of SHSH blob for the baseband - but it can't be saved and used again. This type of SHSH blob needs to be sent every time from Apple.
