Default Is it hard to exchange for a new iphone?

I brught my iphone around a week ago and i hacked it and it been working well. However, a few days ago, I ran into a huge problem where There is signal on my phone yet I am unable to receive incoming phone call and the batteries get really hot after I use it for around 30 minutes. I think I might have a semi-defective iphone. Since it is been less than 14 days, will it be really hard for me to go back to the apple store and just exchange for a new phone or will they made me pay a restocking fee then repurchase it if i want a new one? And if I want to exchange for a new one, I should probably reflash the firmware to erase my unlock and took out both the original at&t, right?

    Too many questions:
    1) you can return it for a refund no questions asked but they will charge you the restocking fee.
    2) get a prepaid at&t sim card or if possible manually choose the at&t network and then go there and show them. I think if they treat you like they treat ipod buyers in the first few weeks they will exchange it for another one that is new but there is a chance they will pop it open to make sure you just dont walk to the cash register and return it for a refund .
but keep in mind you have to talk to them and show them that you know what you are talking about, tell them you did a restore and the problem is still there.

but 2 other points Id like to make is that the battery gets hot due to extensive use, I have read some posts that it heats up due to WiFi and extensive Gprs usage. (i have a 3G modem that I connect to my laptop and it uses the USB as a power source and that heats up after using it for a while and downloading). and in regards to the signal is could be your network, The iphone acts funny sometimes (when i was on the pre-paid at&t) the calls dont go through the first time and i usually have to call the number twice before it goes through.

Just me 2 cents and hope they help

I think it depends on where you are based. From what I hear some Apple stores have more liberal exchange policies than others. I'm lucky, in San Francisco, the Apple store is very liberal in exchanging the phones. I'm on my third unit now. They didn't even bother testing the units at the genius bar, just swapped them out.

    YMMV.
