Hacking the iPhone garbled SMS code
Any volunteers for coming up with a tool that can read the sms.db and decode the garbled sms. To provide a little overview on what I am talking about.
1. In 1.1.1, sms from providers, banks, websms all appear garbled.
2. Sender's name will miss the last character.
3. Time will appear wrong.
To start with we can have a tool that given a garbled message could display the proper string message. Then we can extend it to read directly from sms.db (sqlite db) if possible.
Possible approach could be like send websms to iPhone with body like "A", "B" and store how the iPhone displays/stores these sms. From that, we could try to find out something.
Any thoughts on this?

It means, it is a temporary solution until you receive another garbled sms. Then you will have to delete sms.db again.

I have this problem with my unlocked 1.1.1 iphone. my brother on the other hand does not have this problem.
The only real difference between our phones is that he never unlocked on 1.0.2 and i unlocked on 1.0.2 and virginised then upgraded and unlocked.
Also, i have a very old sim and his is brand new. Thats it.
