    Thumbs up

While I'm sure your hearts are in the right place and you are eager to get your hands on the iphone, this kind of competition is almost universally a bad idea when hacking a new system. It was bad with the x86OSX project and it will be bad here. The problem is that this kind of effort is really best served by a free and eager exchange of information between those working on the project in various areas. Putting up a monetary reward makes people more guarded and more insular, slowing the flow of information as everyone tries to be the first individual or group to the goal. Just as distributed computing is more effective than single site number crunching, so it is when cracking a new system like the iphone.
This is a personal opinion and not any sort of law or fact, so please do not take it as an attack, just as advice from someone who genuinely wants this effort to succeed! Cheers!

If that's the case, we can always pass a motion, if the winner wants, to give the cash to a charity of his or her choice??

but if you ask me, whoever cracks this, unless its DVD Jon, will try and charge for a pay per use etc.

    Exclamation

This thread has been closed cause we stated clear that the solution and findings made will be free available. such competitions are initiated to get people to give them exclusivly the key to unlock the phone and make money. Freedom, thats the word of the hour.

    Closed.
