    Strange, my post with the preferences.plist file was placed in the middle of the thread. Go back to page 4 to find it.. That's WEIRD.

    I am having a little difficulty here also - I added the proxy file and edited the plist file, but I have only gotten one web page to come up. I double checked everything. I am on T-Mobile and have been using the proxy on my Dash with success. A preferences.plist file would be handy to minimize unknowns.

    This is great - I can't wait to get it to work!

    I just confirmed it and it is not that slow either!

    123.1kbps using iphonenetworktest.com

    Google Maps - Yes
    Safari - Yes
    Weather - Yes
    Stocks - Yes
    Mail - YES

    Cut and paste this code and save it as proxy.pac

    Code:
    function FindProxyForURL(url, host)
    {
    if (isInNet(myIpAddress(), "10.0.0.0", "255.0.0.0"))
    return "PROXY 216.155.165.50:8080";
    else
    return "DIRECT";
    }
    and then make the same changes to the preferences.plist file mentioned in the first post. the changes are on line 352 of the preferences.plist file.

    now my iPhone is complete

    Could you please share you preferences.plist file?

    For everyone who is using this method, a little warning.

    2 years ago, when t-mobile changed it's data ports for t-zones, it altered the way that data devices connect to their edge network. There are 2 completely different systems that manage the data network. one for the total internet plan, and one for t-zones.(this is completely different for sidekick data and blackberry data)

    When they did this alot of people who were proxying the data port found out something very strange. They would get a notice from t-mobile saying that they were going to cancel the feature and they would have to upgrade data plans. the servers monitor what type of data, and how much passes the system(see the kb's on your bill). If they find that too much data is passing back and forth they can kick you off of the t-zones/t-mobile web server. Test it out! it's fun!

    now you may not get caught...count yourself lucky if so.

    I noticed that if I check the settings/general/network/edge the preferences.plist file is modified in someway that disables the proxy.

    So, after setting the APN, don't check the settings again after patching your preferences.plist file. If it stops working, just put the patched file back on and restart your phone.

    Also, I don't recommend sharing your preferences.plist file. It contains your phone's name, your network settings and some other information.

    clicking the Y! button on weather takes me to safari and works fine.

    Did you restart your phone after making the changes?

    Everything works for me. Only trouble I have is YouTube but I'm not sure if it is because of this because I always have cellular problems at work.

    Edit: Seems YouTube works though it loads very slowly, I may end up using the 19.99 Total plan just for the speed increase.
