I used the TZone hack and edited the proxy.pac file to enable proxy on my Alfa WAP (EDGE) connection in Lebanon. Mail, stocks, weather, facebook, App Store applications are working except for Safari!

I've upgraded to firmware 2.1 and have a 3G iPhone.

So please if someone can help me to make Safari work, I'd appreciate it pretty much!

my iphone 3g still does not connect ! it worked with my previous iphone (old 2g version) but i am not able to make it work on my 3g ! any ideas ?

hi, Rogers canada recently blocked the wap access on iphone.
the very same setting works on any other phone including windows mobile but all of the sudden iphone users would get

Got the Wap to work with mtctouch on the iphone, if anyone is interested for the settings file, just contact me over here

with my proxy settings i only have access to google and vodafone.de (my provider) with safari and no one more.weather, stocks, etc. doesn't work. does anyone know why?

First off, I need to apologize for not checking this site very often. I originally posted and it kind of took off and ran with others offering advice and helping out each other. I really cant believe its been almost 2 years since this thread was created and with more than 213,000 views. Pretty impressive I think.

Anyways.

I would also like to thank Iphone-dev team for putting out some great unlocks and jailbreak software. If you have the Iphone 3G and want to upgrade to 3.0 unlocked and Jailbreak visit their site at: blog.iphone-dev.org
Those guys are the real geniuses.

I recently got my hands on a 3G to mess with since the prices have come down. It came the other day and I upgraded to 3.0 but it was not unlocked. That is until Iphone-Dev released the unlock for it Ultrasn0w. Now it is.

My next task was to set it up to edit files, so I of course installed SSh tools and used WinSCP to connect to it.

The last thing I wanted to do was get my 3G connection working. So I set out to find out if the 3G could be made to work using the Proxy.pac file that I originally put out there for people to use.

I did get the Proxy to work but only when I dissabled the 3G connection. Then finally I was able to get the 3G connection to work, but not with Safari. I was thinking that perhaps I would have to edit the proxy.pac file to tell it to do something different for http. I was wrong. instead as I was searching the web I came across a site that explained how to put the proxy settings directly into the Preferences.plist file.

I had to edit for Qtel settings but once I made the change in the file, rebooted the phone, Safari fired up using th 3G connection and it was fast.

Now you don't need to delete your proxy.pac file, it just wont be used anymore. I am not sure why it seems to work with this and not the proxy. But at this point I could really care less. It's working.

As before I hope you have continued success hacking your Iphone and getting it to work on Qtel.

Oh and for those wanting the mail to work it wont using the proxy. The ports that mail uses differ from the proxy port. If you need to use mail that bad, there is a apple ap for GMAIL that should work, or pay for the service and not need the proxy.

My next task will be MMS for Qtel.

i've tried it but it don't work
