Default Getting YouTube to work (Mac)?

    I'ved followed these instructions:

    http://www.iphone4world.com/?p=12

But YouTube still says cannot connect? Any Mac users get YouTube working yet? I know there's an automated script for Windows, maybe someone can pull those three files out of that and upload them for us to just manually do.

Just add the keys to the phone manually! It wouldn't make a difference if you're on a Mac or otherwise.

    Did you read my post?

I followed the instructions exactly. I added all three files manually through SSH and SFTP. I still get the "Cannot connect to YouTube" error message, hence the reason I made the post.

    hey,

    Try this:

    1)Restore your phone
    2) jailbreak it
    3)do a patching activation
4)copy the 3 youtube files to your phone

    No need to edit anything.
    That should work fine.

That's what the script I wrote does.

Hm, was hoping I didn't have to restore it. I'm guessing I'll need to install BSD Subsystem after jailbreaking so I can access it through an SFTP client.

You don't need to restore anything. There are 4 files that are utilised in the YouTube authentication process. The 3 files that are provided are the public and private .pem files and the data_ark.plist file. There is another file that needs to be modified for this to work correctly. In the directory that you copied those files, there is a subdirectory called activation_records. In that directory, you should see a .plist file named after the iccid of your SIM card. You need to add the Device Certificate that is in the data_ark.plist file into that file as well.

And don't forget to restart the phone after patching the .plist file in activation_records sub folder.

I though that was obvious enough.

Default The solution for 1.0.1 & 1.0.2 users

I found this elsewhere on the forums:

    1. copy the whole Lockdown directory from /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
    onto your pc
    2. Copy the deleonju files into the Lockdown folder on your pc
    3. Open the new data_ark.plist file, and copy the entire <data> tag just after <key>-DeviceCertificate</key> onto the clipboard
    4. Open EACH .plist file in the pair_records folder, and paste over the device certificate data tag
    5. Open the .plist file in the activation_records folder, and paste the <data> tag over the (probably empty) <data> tag after <key>-DeviceCertificate</key> - note that this device certificate key is further down the file than in the pair_record .plist files
    6. Copy the new Lockdown folder contents into /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown
    7. Reboot the iPhone and enjoy!
That process worked perfectly for me. I'm using firmware 1.0.2. On a Mac, the easy way to copy the files is to jailbreak your phone, enable SSH & SFTP, then use Transmit to download/upload files. You can edit the files using TextMate, BBEdit, or TextEdit.
