Default Getting back to first base -- iPhone activation after installation of FM 1.1.1.

The objective of the following thread is to talk about getting back to first base, or activating the phone. It's NOT about second base -- i.e. jailbraking, unshackling, installing applications, shutting down EDGE, getting YouTube to work, etc., etc. and it's not certainly about unlocking the phone. You'll find details about this elsewhere in this forum.

Now that the rules are clear, let's focus on what we know regarding Activation:

    iAsign does not work
    INdependence does not work
iActivator doesn't work (obviously if INdependence doesn't work)
    iFunstatic doesn't work.
    IPhoneTool (i.e tool")
None of the PC activators work either.

    What else do we know?

We know that our former activation tools are producing the following errors when run: "InvalidActivationRecord" and that they are successfully able to connect to the iPhone, but are not able to accomplish their task of activating the phone.

What else do we know about ACTIVATION?

i am hoping this may be tackled in a different way, maybe extract the files from the new firmware and only update the parts we need via SSH and other file transfer apps..

Same principle as all the others. None of the old tools are valid any longer. Either 1) the activation_record directory has been moved, 2) has been protected, or 3) signed now. I would assume the later.

Interesting discovery on unactivated, FM 1.1.1. test iPhone. iToner -- it appears -- is still able to copy ringtones to iPhone. Ringtone transfered to phone without error. Hum? Wouldn't have expected this to work....

So it should seem logical, that if one could find out how iToner get's into the new FW we would technically have a new "jailbreak" method. (Badly worded but you get it right).
