Im debating on doing the hardware unlock or waiting longer for the software unlock. Obviously the software unlock is safer, but I am impatient.

Does anyone know if the hardware unlock will work for the future versions, or is it possible that apple may come up with a way to lock the phone after a hardware unlock is performed?

I'm trying to decide the same thing.. Unless some gives me any reason to decide otherwise, I am going to wait until Friday afternoon before doing the hardware unlock. A friend of mine already did it and he is going to help me through it.

Haha. What a coincidence. I can't decide either. I guess I'm gonna wait till friday. If no news or nothing, I'll be doing the HW unlock. (and I had everything ready for the hw unlock. I was gonna do it last friday.)

unless you know what ur doing, its too much of a risk to experiment on an iphone (which is exactly where i am currently...)

I'm waiting, since the hardware lock isn't too hard once you get the case apart, but getting the case apart is by most accounts a pain in the ass. There's a high risk of some cosmetic damage to the case, and higher risks to more serious hardware damage. Fortunately I can use cell service now on it, so I can wait a bit for a software unlock.

Here's a piece of advise - wait. I'm a beginner at the entire opening up electronics - I HIGHLY suggest you wait or order a turbosim. The method of opening the device is NOT worth it.. my iPhone is now dead as a result.

Life goes on.. but yeah, I highly suggest you do not attempt the opening unless you are completely comfortable with opening the device.. or are OK with the idea of a dead iPhone.

Tried to open the iPhone yesterday, but gave up trying to
remove the black cover, it was going to get scratched.
I am going to way until saturday, if there is no software
solution, I will proceed to hardware unlock.

Well my 1 cent advice. Wait till software unlock

Me, and a lot of feople broken their iphones with hardware unlock. Only a reeboot in the process and ....

Other things .... when you open the Iphone, is normal scratch the phone; is very dificult take off the covers, and the neddles system is not to easy.

I am going to wait. If Apple makes a change to the firmware that busts the software unlock and it reverses it and still updates, that is better than a hardware unlock that makes the phone useless when it comes to updates from Apple. Plus I don't want to tear the crap out of it opening the case. The only reason I want it unlocked is so I can use my foreign sim when traveling abroad. Worst case is I take along my unlocked Nokia and disable edge on the iPhone so I can still receive calls and use the WiFi. Being able to easily disable edge and then reenable it is far more important to me then having the phone unlocked.
