    Default Dying 3G iPhone

    I was running 2.1 on my jailbroken 2,1 iPhone.
    Yesterday, the phone started getting really hot. I checked the running processes, but couldn't figure out what the offending one could be, so I just restarted the phone. That didn't help. It kept burning through the battery. I plugged it in, but it still died. Completely ran out of power.

    It wouldn't start, so I put it in recovery mode. iTunes can't restore it, so I'm trying to see if iRecovery can help me.
    fsboot does not work. Here is my printenv output:
    Code:
    ] (Recovery) iPhone$ printenv
      config_board = 'n82ap'
      loadaddr = '0x9000000'
      boot-command = 'fsboot'
      idle-off = 'true'
      boot-device = 'nand0'
      boot-partition = '0'
      boot-path = '/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernelcaches/kernelcache.s5l8900x'
      display-color-space = 'RGB888'
      display-timing = 'optC'
    P bootdelay = '0'
    P backlight-level = '46'
    P platform-uuid = <DATA>
    P auto-boot = 'false'
      image-version = '0x3'
      framebuffer = '0xfd00000'
      secure-boot = '0x1'

    Default Try...

    In "iRecovery -s":
    setenv boot-args "rd=md0 nand-enable-reformat=1 -progress"
    saveenv
    reboot

    Default Anyone get anywhere?

    Hardware:
    Ipod Touch 2G (8GB)

    Firmware:
    3.1.1

    My touch just seems to be in the Recovery Mode Loop. I have iRecover up and running but nothing much seems to have effect on it. I mean, I can login to it. Here's the output From the login:

    Code:
    [FTL:MSG] Apple NAND Driver (AND) RO

    HFSInitPartition: 0xf9eab40
    Entering recovery mode, starting command prompt
    The Part about Boot Failure Count: 1 Panic Fail Count: 13 and yaFTL::YAFTL_Open(l:2630): CXT is not valid . Performing full NAND R/O seems like not such a good sign. I'm not sure how to fix this. I can't put any FW on it. It just sits there at the apple logo w/ the progress bar screen and goes nowhere while iTunes waits for the thing saying it's working but it never does (left it trying for 2 hours, no progress).

    I can't get it in DFU mode as far as I know. I can get it in a recovery mode where the screen is black and iTunes sees it in recovery mode (if thats DFU, not sure, don't remember).

    Oh and doing "printenv" "setenv" "saveenv" "fsboot" in iRecover does nothing. Yes, even with arguments to "setenv". "reboot" works perfect though, I like that one. Makes it seem like it's doing something other than anger me.

    So here I am. Not sure where to go from here. If anyone would be my savior and give me some tips on things to try that would be great.

    Oh and I think it probably has some bearing but my iPod fell a short distance from my bed (about 1.5 to 2 feet) before this all happened. It was still connected by sync cable and I don't think hit too hard. It worked when I picked it up and all that. If that has bearing. I don't see why it would to a flash hdd with no mechanical parts. I have read that these things are quite fragile for no particular reason though. Which seems like a scam to me but oh well, thems the breaks.

    /me waits patiently

    Default It worked!!!!!!

    OMG IT WORKED!!!!!

    I went from a completely unresponsive iPod to having a Fully working iPod.

    OMG, I can't even tell you the relief I feel right now.

    I will write up a full howto tonight.

    I cannot believe it f*&%^ worked. I have to write this because I have found *NOTHING* on fixing this. absolutely nothing.

    Thank you to everyone for the bits and pieces of info that helped to get my ipod working again. I think I've gone through over 100 google search pages, and probably 300 forum posts from 50 different websites.

    Thanks again.
