FW 1.1.2: Here's something interesting...
So like the title above states. I updated from 1.1.1 -> 1.1.2. The reason I did this was because I am from Canada and on the Rogers network. Well, anyone who is on Rogers can tell you the following:
1. The SMS timestamps are off by about -7 hours and even if you do the correction as stated in earlier threads you can have SMS times corrected but it will throw off the world clock and any other time stamping app....
2. Voice Mail notification - The little red dot that will tell you that you have a voicemail waiting does not work in 1.1.1. I guess it worked before in 1.0.2. but if you update to 1.1.1, it seems to no longer work...
In any case, updating to 1.1.2 (I used IPSF unlocking) seems to have fixed BOTH problems!! I just noticed the SMS was fixed when one of my friends sent me an SMS message and lo and behold the time was correct! I thought maybe my world clocks and stuff were off, but they were also CORRECT!!!
As for Voicemail notification icon - This also now works. Although this was a given based on all the threads I read on the update fixing this...
BUT the SMS time-stamp actually being the correct time in correlation to everything else was an added bonus!
Just thought I would let those know contemplating updating to 1.1.2. - IT'S WORTH IT - Especially if you are in Canada and on Rogers or Fido...
PS - I did NOT load any 3rd apps to try and do an SMS fix or anything. The only thing I have loaded besides the new firmware and standard iPhone apps is iworld. But even then I haven't selected any countries in that either....
Ya I really hate that SMS timestamp bug in 1.1.1. It pisses me off when a simple functionality like that doesn't work.
iPhone (OTB 1.1.1 / Currently 3.1)

to solve the sms issue you just turn off the auto time set, manually put in the right city (in my case Toronto) and then save it. now turn the auto time zone on again.
i have 2 iphones here. One with 1.1.1 and one with 1.1.2 both on rogers.
The sms timestamp has been fixed since 2 days ago. It has nothing to do with updating to 1.1.2. For the last month i have been getting the wrong sms timestamp on both phones, as of 2-3 days ago they both started showing the correct timestamps. ( i haven not installed or done anything to the phones ) Rogers just simply stopped adding the timzone offset to the sms.
