Free Space Doing Odd things?
Apologies if this is covered elsewhere - I have tried searching posts but have not found an answer...
I am bemused by the way "Free Space" is seemingly going down for no apparent reason. This morning I had 80 Mb free according to Itunes. I listened to a frew tracks (so play count would have been updated) - and synced - and it had gone to 75 Mb. I have synced again and now it shows 48.9 Mb. This is 30 Mb less than earlier - but I have added no new music, pictures etc. The only thing that has changed is that I have received a few e-mails - but no attachments...
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

Same thing happens to me - like, this morning it was 16, then 8, then 0. I had to delete Jokes to free up some space. I thought it might be logs - crash reporter etc. but after I deleted those free space didn't change. It's 8MB now. What else could it be? What about apps caches?
UPD: just now: I uninstalled a bunch of apps, my free space went up to 60MB, I rebooted - 32MB! What gives? Any ideas?

Surely we can't be the only ones seeing this? In teh past week, my free space on the iPhone has gone from 60Mb to 31Mb - and I have done nothing except listen to music and receive and delete e-mails... It seems to have a systematic tendancy to approach zero...!
Is it possible that deleted e-mails continue to hog resources? I saw an application for bulk-deleting e-mails - and it seemed to suggest thousdand of e-mails in my folders even though the standard iPhone interface shows none (as they have always been deleted).
Help - anyone - please?

Solved!
I have found teh solution to this - in case it is useful to others:
It was my e-mail eating up space. All my many months' of messaged continued to take up disk space despite being deleted and not appearing in either the "inbox" or the "Trash" (where it is deleted after 1 day). No idea why - seems to be a bug to me. Anyway - I went in to the file structure with Finder and deleted the "Messages" folder (which contained over 1000 files) and created a new one. Remembering to then go and delete the trash entries in Finder - I went anc checked my Free space - which has recovered to 324 Mbytes from 13Mbytes a few minutes earlier...
No idea why "deleted" messages are not actually deleted from the file structure??? For the record, I do have the advanced e-mail oprtions set to clear teh messages from the e-mail Trash folder after 1 day - and this does happen.

Can you give me the file structure to find the folder "Messages?" I can't locate it. Thanks

Sure:
~/Library/Mail/POP-<your email account>/INBOX.mbox/Messages

Wonder of Wonders
It worked. I cleaned up over 330 mb's. Wow. Thanks so much.

After using your method, it seems my email is being stored somewhere else even though I restored the file folder. Any ideas of the new area?
