Default Found a way to get Google Maps locate me working on 1.1.3 (4.02)

    Well sort of.

Ive tried this with a ziphone unlocked phone (1.1.3 firmware, 4.02.13_G baseband) that has a T-Mobile sim in it and it always works for me. First put the iPhone in aeroplane mode. Then go to google maps and it'll ask you to join disable aeroplane mode and join a wi-fi network. Choose disable and (heres the crucial bit) within a second or 1.5 seconds press the locate me button. It should locate you. Try again from the begginning if it keeps trying to locate you forever. If you get a 'could not locate you' message, its working but you're not near enough radio masts.

I found this after realising that locate me works when you've got no service on the phone for some reason. Anyone care to speculate why? Let me know if it works for you guys

I think your only getting Wifi triangulation with that method. Ideally you'll want 4_03 baseband for cell tower triangulation...

Thats what I was thinking, but my wifi is the only one present nearby and the locate me is accurate to about 20 metres which I thought was impossible using just one wifi signal? Anyway this will all be irrelevent when they unlock the 4_03 baseband with 4.6 BL I suppose haha
