FM Radio chip on iPhone
Hey guys, I chanced upon this article while surfing the net: http://www.iphonefreak.com/2007/07/iphone-hardware.html
Truth is our phones are capable of Flash, Java, MMS, 3G and FM Radio, just that apple thinks what we have is enough for us. Screw Apple.
Irregardless, now that we've hacked the iphone wide and open, any developers wish to work on bring the iphone one step to the perfect phone as it is. By activating the features that CAN be enabled, but ain't.
I'd love to help on this too, but rain on me your take on this particular chip, and how possible it is to enable it without Apple's help.
Thanks.

Even if there were any truth to this sensational claim, all three of those technologies need a specific form of antenna, the likes of which could not be included in a software update. The best apple could do is give us a constantly static Radio app, a GPS with no actual capability to locate you, and an unending "No Service" situation.
In short, the answer is no, so stop with these pointless threads with inaccurate news from 3 f-ing months ago.

**whoosh**
...and another thing, stop bitching about getting flamed. IMHO, pointless threads like this should be deleted. Now, another 3000 beginners are going to be posting "Request: FM Radio app" posts thinking this crap is actually true. And then, of course, they're all going to be asking for the 3g fw update, claiming they heard it was possible from "reliable sources". If you would have used the damn search box, you would have seen that there were hundreds of posts on this 3 months ago, and that it has since been proven false by people that actually know what they're talking about.

thecompkid: your seriously retarded. i never once mentioned that gps is viable, it just has that capability. there is a difference between having the capability to making it happen.
For one: like most phones out there, the earphone's wire act as an antenna, so now refute this. Its people like you which denies creativity thanks to your mentality that everything goes your way, and there is no way around things.
Secondly: Now, tell me about 3G? You seemed to miss the point of having 3G capabilities, don't tell me 3G will get a No Signal from its own very GSM signals? Dumb ass. The reason 3G was left out is because of battery life. But what if we could have 3G at our choice of draining the battery?
Lastly, I never once mentioned GPS, read my post again n00b.
