ok you need to start from scratch... i am on unlocking my 11th phone this method.

check that you have newest ver of itunes. if not download it.
close itunes, and itunehelper
turn phone off(i.e. red slide)
plug phone in to computer and it will restart. as soon as you see the grey apple, hold down power and home button for about 20 seconds...the phone will reboot a couple of times. it will then go to a yellow triangle.
start itunes. it will see that the phone needs to be restored.
restore phone.

i am gonna stop her because i need to find out if you are using the AppTapp Paycay method or the ibrickr method.

i will restart when i find this out.

paycay doesn't unlock phone...just jailbreaks. when you run apptapp, does it work very fast?

something i noticed...if AppTapp doesnt restart your phone a couple of times it didn't work right... you will have to close and try again via the itunes method.

I thought it also activates it right?

just a stupid question. I have a brand new iphone - do I leave the sim it came with or do I put in the old att sim I already am using on my old motorola phone or do I no leave the sim in there at all?

I would like the programer to add one more peice of instruction.

Please tell people to KEEP THE NEW ATT sim card in the phone while running these two things. Then they can take it out and put in their own sim.

One more thing..while I did mine - I connected it to itunes..and then upgraded the phone to 1.02.
THne I closed the itunes and ran the software but the phone kept rebooting a couple of times during the whole process.
Is this supposed ot be that way or did I get lucky?

I am not an existing at&t customer, and I am thinking about getting an iphone... but don't want the contract...

What is the best way for me to accomplish this?

My dad has an old cingular phone+sim.... can I call up and start a service plan with that phone+sim... buy an iphone, jailbreak and activate, replace with sim from old cingular phone, and then add iphone $20 data plan, and get this all done without signing a contract?

If I can't do that, I will be getting one of their free phones with a 2-yr contract, then buying and activating the iphone, so I get a free phone out of the deal...

Please let me know if my plan will work or if I need to revise it!

using the apptabb + payac method, ibrickr didn't work either.

this works great.... itunes 7.4, 1.02......

Worked one time and now it's not working anymore.... the apptap progess bar goes very fast to about 80% done, and then hangs.... and the iphone seems to reboot and come into the rescue mode.... one time that it worked the iphone seemed to boot really fast multiple times. Didn't do anything differently from what I'm doing now though.
