First generation iPhone relocked due to 2.0 firmware... what to do?
I accidentally upgraded my first-generation 8GB iPhone (1.1.4) via iTunes... and now it won't let me make calls or use any of the features. My carrier is T-Mobile. I bought this phone unlocked a month ago. After I accidentally upgraded it via iTunes, it set itself to factory settings and all it does now is direct me to some emergency call option. It's viewing my T-Mobile sim card as foreign now, or something.
What should I do? Should I take it somewhere to have it unlocked, or is there no hack for that yet? Is there... any hope for me? Lol I'm sorry I'm not tech savvy and I'm aware (now) how stupid I was to update, but I really need help! Thank you for your time.

Use PwnageTool 2.0.1 (OS X) or WinPwn 2.0.0.1 (Windows) to unlock your phone again.

Thanks for your quick reply and help. Will that restore my phone back to 1.1.4 instead of 2.0?

If you don't mind waiting for Installer 4.0 and 3rd party community apps, you can update to 2.0 as iPhone 2G can now be unlocked/Jaibroken/Activated.
You get all the free apps from AppStore as well.

I had exactly the same case, 16GB 1.1.4 iphone , accidentally updated on iTUNE 7.7 to ver 2, and obviously gone. Now trying to re-install firmware back ( 1.1.4) followede procedures anmd using either WINPWN and/or Ziphone , both cannot detect the iphone in recovery mode. Phone is connected to teh computer , USB cable and iTUNE logo on the screen, and ITUNE software is off.
Any idea what is wrong and how to get out of it ( I used the power on and button hold ...etc )

Thanks for responding and the help, guys.
Just wondering if yall know anyone who may have tried out those methods and were in the same position as me...
There are a lot of choices for me out there and I just wanna know which one worked effectively. I hear that I'm supposed to jailbreak first and THEN unlock, does winpwn/iclarified do these too?
Also, does it matter what method the original seller used to unlock/jailbreak my iPhone?
Thanks for you time

Pawnage unlocks and jailbreaks. All you have to do is fallow the guide at iclarified.com it will even unlock and jailbreak 2.0.1. Also how it was orginally done dosnt matter as you have restored it.

I'll look into it, thanks
Also, does the iclarified guide automatically upgrade your iphone to 2.0? If so, is there an alternative because I'd rather much go back to 1.1.4... I've heard rumors of 2.0 lagging in first gen phones

If you're not too big on upgrading to 2.0 and winpwn'ing your iphone, you can always just do a restore via itunes to 1.1.4 (download the ipsw from a torrent site or there might even be a link inside these forums, just do a search) and then use iLiberty+ to unlock, activate and jailbreak your phone. But iLiberty+ will only work with 1.1.4 and lower firmwares, it might otherwise cause irreparable damage to your phone.
And as always, read as much information as you can about the process of doing what I wrote just so you can be ready for any kind of unexpected problems. Hopefully there won't be any, cheers!
