[Firmware] I am new here, I can't get the ipsw files ....
Hi,
I need the 1.1.4 Firmware to restore my iphone. So I have two possibilieties. The first one, the xpwn-build has "Firmware bundles", and the second one, a zip file with the firmware.
The problem is that neither of these two file possibilities is in "ipsw" format. Please tell me how to convert any of these to "ipsw" format. I am following a tutorial to restore my iPhone and I need the firmware.
Thank you very much in advance I have been stuck for days,

there is no such thing as converting to ipsw format.
what do you download with with ? firefox, safari ?. Are you on windows or Mac?
if it's a zip file then you need to unzip it. if it's a rar file then you need to unrar it.

Chances are, you're using Safari on a Macintosh.
You'll notice in the download window that when you attempt to download, the filename is .ipsw.zip.
IPSW are essentially just renamed .zip files. Safari automatically decompresses downloaded IPSWs into a folder and trashes the .ipsw.
All you have to do is wait for the download to finish and decompress, then go into your trash bin and pull out the .ipsw.

Hi,
Thank you for your answer : ) !!!
I went to trash and I got out a zip file that I double clicked. This filed turned into a "ipsw" folder with many files inside. However, I didn't get the cool "mini cube" that I expected to get.
Perhaps it is not with the cool "mini cube" that I have to solve the problem, but with a particular file within the Firmware subfolder. The firmware folder has anothe subfolder called DFU. Should I try all the files, or should I look for a way to get the cube ??
Thank you very much again,

Hi,
Sorry, I'll explain it better:
I downloaded the 1.1.4 Firmware to restore my iphone. However, when I decompress the zip folder, it converts into another folder with the "ipsw" ending and not into a cube image with the "ipsw" ending. The disadvantage is that the folder has many, many files and to know which one is the one that will help, it's a bit complicated.
Thank you very much in again,
igmolinav.
P.S. I am using an ibook and among other applications Safari, iTunes 7.5, and iPhoto.

i was having the same problem. look all you have to do is change the file name before you unzip it. meaning once it downloads like to your desktop just delete the .zip portion of the file it it will turn into the cube and your good to go. i know how you feel it took me like 2 days the figure that out

You mean it's that cool cube that we need at the end of the day. Incidentally I have downloaded iOS 5.1.1 firmware and got a cube like icon. But working with redsnow, it is not recognized as IPSW file. Can you help me please.
