The iPhone was then activated and runs 2.0 smoothly, all the phone features work perfect (including Edge) and I have been busy downloading half the appstore to it."
Where you saw this post? anyone else tried it?

Has anyone else noticed the the firmware available now on itunes is different from yesterdays release. it is about 7mb smaller and now the designation starts 1.1 not 1.2. just my thoughts

Just a tought:
* I have my Iphone since oktober last year
* It is working fine at the moment so no direct reason to upgrade to 2.0
* Since today, here in Belgium, we can buy the Iphone 3G, which is unlocked for all Belgian (or international?) operators
* If I update to 2.0 will this mean that I will be able to use it with any Belgian operator? (will they be so stupid?)
* Or will there be a distinction between 1.1 and 1.2 on this specific matter?

BTW, I have upgraded itunes to 7.7 but I dont get the 2.0 update, any idea?????

Right now I'm hoping any Authorized carrier's sim will work when activated through iTunes. I'm in Canada on Rogers. I'm just waiting for the servers to mellow out before I try upgrading and activating.

I had this problem and I just kept getting "This version of the iPhone softwar (1.1.4) is the current version" but after a little while I clicked again and it popped up.
Mine upgraded fine. I have it up and running.

No prob Scape.
I do mac support and end up helping everyone with their phones and my company will eventually get some for staff and I'll likely be the admin that looks after them. So I do it and screw around with my iPhone to learn and figure out the weird quirks. When the first unlock came out, before there was a GUI, I spent hours and hours on here and trying various things until it worked. I ended up with a useless phone a few times, but it was worth it. Since Apple isn't going to provide us with details on the iPhone's inner-workings and they're going to lock it down like this, what other choice is there? I never really paid attention to cellular devices or mobile phones before the iPhone or had a need to unlock one, so I'm just learning as I go.
Worst case scenario is that I have to use a crappy ordinary phone for a week or so until the dev team releases theirs.
So, my results are: @$$%$&$!!!! Damn thing isn't working. I have a Rogers SIM and tried another Rogers SIM from work, earlier today, that was newer than mine. I tried a Stealth Sim as well and it didn't work. I tried putting in the AT&T SIM that came with my iPhone (originally a 1.1.2 model from San Fran) and restoring like someone on O2 got to work, but it didn't. I ended up in the sign-up process for AT&T instead of how theirs turned out. iTunes 7.5 isn't working at all and I can't find 7.6.2 and can you believe I had a copy the other day and deleted it?
Right now I'm just trying to revert back to the 1.1.4 software and wishing the Dev team felt like releasing their software now. And I'm pissed at Apple. I paid money for this thing and I'm paying for voice and data service, so why shouldn't I be allowed to use it without all this hassle. I know it's not all their fault -- the cellular companies wouldn't have it any other way, but it sucks. They're still getting my money and I've spend too much time on it. And I had to ride transit, to and from work, without music!!
