I tried to jailbreak the iPod Touch before and it returns to similar results. Does it mean something to this new firmware?

From gizmodo.com
Update 4:13PM: Brian Lam tried to activate his iPhone with firmware 1.1.1 (this iPhone was unlocked before the update with anySIM.) This time, he tried iTunes activation and his legit AT&T card. The result: it doesn't work. From Brian:
I took a 4GB iphone, never previously activated on AT&T. I activated it using Independence, and then loaded anysim on it, and reactivated using independence and Tmobile. Then, I applied firmware 1.1.1 to it, and it deactivated my phone. Without trying to activate in independence or iTunes, it didn't work with my legit AT&T SIM, or the TMO sim. Using the AT&T SIM and and trying to activate it in iTunes did nothing: iTunes reported that the AT&T SIM was actually not a valid SIM.
The lesson: After firmware updating a iPhone that was previously unlocked to V1.1.1, NO sims are legit

If a virus was planted, apple have nothing to lose to just execute it right away, and send out a clear message that hacking their firmware will not be taken lightly. Just my thought. Of course, your questions is kinda interesting, a possiblity, but common sense says otherwise.

THUS even with a legit activated AT&T SIM it renders your already unlocked phone with 1.1.1 update INOPERABLE. I'd call that a sort of virus
wouldn't you?
Question is, can you reverse a phone put into this state?

In other words, despite their initial blathering about how the phone isn't bricked, it is more-or-less as useful as a brick after the 1.1.1 update. If you can't activate it with an actual AT&T SIM using iTunes, it's basically a brick.
Proof positive that Steve Jobs smokes the big ole tubesteak. Apple isn't getting another dollar from me.

still don't see how it's a virus. it's completely optional to update. the update happens to break unlocked/modified iphones. not a virus.

I'd really encourage someone to try the dvd jon method of activation with this upgrade from an unlocked phone. Since that is a patched version of iTunes, I expect there could be a different result.

It doesn't BREAK them it CRIPPLES them. That's a virus bro. Yes you don't have to update them, but if you do update them is disables the phone even when using a working AT&T SIM. Therefore the phone does not work. A new piece of firmware should wipe the unlock off and let you still use the phone with AT&T if you choose. This is a WAR targeted at stopping unlockers. The war is using a virus to punish us. Other phones without the unlock are fine. Thus they programmed this to cripple the phones so we cant even use them on AT&T.
Upon looking up a definition I found "most computer viruses have a destructive payload that is activated under certain conditions." Our "certain condition" which makes us different from others is the unlock. This is a virus.
