    Default Fido Data Plan changed?

    I was looking around again on fido.ca for their data plan costs, and I could have sworn when I looked a week ago, it was $100 for 50MB/month, but looking now it says $100 for 200MB a month

    If they got that down to $50, i might go for it.. 200MB would be pretty decent for a months worth of iPhone usage.

    Mine's Been working great since day one. only wish it could connect to 802.11x wireless. For the edge problem people have been experiencing just delete all the information in the edge settings as i'm sure you guys realized. it works for me and i just run the wifi, that is until Fido offers an unlimited edge package! crossing my fingers apple crunches down on rogers, and eventually fido users will receive the same benefits!

    Ya, mine worked out of the "box"

    When I unlocked it and put my Edge settings to Fido, I had no problems with anything.

    I had Data, I had Phone, I could even check my voicemail. Hell, when checking my voicemail, the phone even dialed my password for me.

    No problems, then someone called me, and I thought they didn't leave a message, since I got no notification.

    So, that's my only problem, no idea if a message was left. No-one calls anyway.

    Is anyone having an issue where when you make a call, your call fails right away? Or when you are receiving a call, your service signal drops to nothing?

    My phone dials the Fido voicemail, but it won't send my password. I thought I put in the right character for a pause ( a comma I think) but it's not working. Anybody have any hints how I can have the phone send my password?

    On another note: I have had no problems and have enjoyed my iPhone a lot. I add my voice to the others in asking for a way to get SMS notification when voicemail has come. NOTE: I *was* sent an SMS when I had hit my 150 minutes out of my 200 minute plan, you know the one that ends with "Keep talking!" So SMS from Fido *does* work.

    Finally, if anyone has any advice on the best deal for data from Fido/Rogers, then let me know. A long time ago (5 years) I had unlimited data for $25/mo I think. Then they got rid of this and I was paying $10/mo for 15MB I think, then I went down to $5/mo for 500K, then I just told them to forget it. It would be nice to have Edge (GSM) data again, but I don't want to pay a fortune for it.

    To answer one guy: I tested the weather app on Edge. Checking the weather I think was 3K up and 5K back down. I'm waiting for my next bill to see how much they charge me for this.

    Hey there, I'm on Rogers and had the same issue a few times with my iphone as well. It seemed the signal would drop to nothing for a minute and then come back after a bit.

    Any ideas solutions? Is is a rogers/fido issue or a iphone hardware issue?

    If you guys haven't heard of this fix already, check it out here:

    Worked like a charm on my Fido PAYG...and now with Rogers! However, I still have that "red dot" over my voicemail...but my plan doesn't come with voicemail right now, so it's not a problem for me!

    the sms fix pretty much fixed every problem i was having with fido, edge always worked for me (brand new sim) and iv had the call failed happen 2 times since october and pushing call back button worked.

    my signal does occasionally drop down but iv never missed a call or anything due to it, and iv only really noticed it when im in the basement where it says i have 4 bars usually but it does move around alot in a stationary place.
    i kinda think it has something to do with either my cordless phone or my router causing some sort of interference but i really dont have anything to back that up. i do however think it does it less now that i changed the lease time on my router (odd i know but it apparently made a difference)

    now that i think about it ever odd thing that its done has been in proximity to the router in the basement, and by odd i mean its "woken up" on it own for no reason, no alert and iv gotten real voice mail notifications from it when i didnt have voice mails.
