Since the only Web surfing option for both Fido and Rogers now is that crappy IMEI-checking unlimited $7 choice (out of our reach due to having 'non-Fido' handset), are we considered lucky??? I am on that $18 value pack which includes the 12MB/$10 surfing option which is not available anymore. Should we celebrate? LOL. No, seriously...! This non-IMEI checking option no longer exists anywhere on their web sites, and we probably get to keep it for as long as we want. What are your thoughts...?

Are you sure that IMEI is checked? I called Fido yesterday and was told that there is no IMEI checking. They specifically told me that the unlimited option would work for the iPhone. But then again, they have given me a lot of false information in the past.

I have the $18 plan too but was considering going to the unlimited plan if they can't tell. Anyone have confirmation either way?

I'm pretty sure some stupid dudes in the customer service don't know the technicalities yet - it's too early - so they're most likely giving you wrong information. It says pretty damn clearly on their site that no other non-Fido handsets are supported and are billed regular 5 cents/KB.

One option though would be to record that dude giving you the wrong information and later dispute the bill when they send you one. You could say he had clearly told you otherwise. But then again, lots of nerves, fighting, uncertainty, and they would inform you properly in the end and you'd be out of luck again for the next billing cycle.

What scares me is that they no longer offer any other options, so I really think we are the lucky ones here....
