I was at the original 1.0 and went onto the latest one after the unlock without any errors.

Exactly where the karma comes into place. The person who I bought it from isn't directly involved either, but I still feel guilty. Im also not in a position to share the "profit" with him.

Karma would dictate that you have us all pitch in for a finders fee for you, and you donate the source back to the folks that started it, the dev team. They spent countless hours taking the cause 90% of the way. The knowledge you donate will vastly improve the odds that the dev team will keep an unlock solution viable through the upcoming updates from Apple. The word of charitable action like this will ensure people give back to you to show appreciation.

    Just my thoughts on it.

Look at it this way, its going to get out one way or another, you are kind of doing everyone here a service by providing it, and we are all willing to donate for it.

Either way its going to arrive sooner or later so your doing EVERYONE a favour by releasing it.

I think I would only ask for donations to a paypal account. I mean look at how much money you would make like the guy who did bittorrent. Also you may avoid legal issues that snowbird talked about in his thread since you are technically releasing it for free.

I agree. If the software ever gets released commercially, it will only be a matter of days before it gets reverse engineered and freely available to the world.

I will donate and I don't even have an iPhone yet!!!

By asking for donations you not capitalising on it, that would be making people pay $100 for it, which in this case would be bad and not good karma.

My point exactly, people will donate as a show of thanks. Don't try to front load the payment, it'll bite you in the end.
