Default European iPhone sooner than expected?

    Hi, just a thought....

When Apple said europe would get the iPhone in Q4 2007, everyone assumed they meant just before the holidays. ie Oct/Nov/Dec.

But I just listened to tonight's financial conference call and the mentioned the european iPhone in Q4. In this setting it would be extremely confusing to refer to Oct/Nov/Dec as Q4. I say this because the call is reporting on 2007's 3rd Quarter results. ~Therefore we are now in the 4th Quarter of 2007.

So...should we expect the phone soon?

    Any Thoughts?

    EDIT:

Just replayed call, He does say Calander Q4. Sorry for confusion.

I think Apple lets accounting be accounting and calendars be calendars. In the Financial world we speak of Fiscal Years, which of in apples case is not following the jan-dec schedule.
However when they refer to the launch of their phone, they look at a regular calender and not at their fiscal year calendar which is used for accounting and tells them when to send which report to the NASDAQ and the SEC.

And i do also assume it will take Apple more than the next 4-5 months to get the iPhone working in Europe, at least in more than one country.

"Also weighing on Apple's stock on Tuesday was a report from CIBC World Markets that said demand for the iPhone has experienced a "significant decline" in the past 10 days, a slowdown driven in part by dissatisfaction with the slow data transfer speeds on AT&T's network. CIBC used store visits and a survey of iPhone buyers to reach its conclusions.

CIBC said it expects Apple and AT&T to boost their marketing push for the iPhone, and the companies could introduce a new model in November - earlier than expected - that operates on a faster network. The two models now available cost $US499 and $US599."
