Question Error: Baseband bootloader is too old; update to 1.8 or later and try again

    Hi,
I attempted to restore the baseband by running the following 2 commands
    1.bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls
    2.bbupdater -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep

The first command run correctly, but I got the following error when I run the 2nd command:

"Error: Baseband bootloader is too old; update to 1.8 or later and try again"

Can anybody help? How do I update baseband bootloader to 1.8?

The reason I am restoring the baseband is due to the problems listed below:

After doing HW & Software Unlock & Activation (Using T-mobile usa sim) I am still not able to use phone.

All I get is "no service" showing up in the upper left corner.
Settings - Carrier leads to Automatic/Manual. No Network name shows up.

When I select Manual, I get "Network lost - Your selected network is no longer available. You can choose a new network in the phone settings."

When powering off & on again, I get some bars (showing no signal) on the top left. Then a message pops up "Waiting for AT&T activation - This may take some time".

    Things like WLAN work perfectly.

I am 100% sure the phone is Unlocked & Activated b/c I unlocked a 2nd phone using the same procedure.

Infact when I insert my Sim and I have a voicemail waiting, the red message button appears on the phone button, but the singal strength bar changes from 0 bars (No Signa) to the "No Service" message on the top left corner of the phone.

Anyone any idea, please.. I cannot find a way out. Restored Firmware (1.0.2) a few times and activated again. But seems like no chance.. Help :-(

    Thanks!!

I was getting thatessage before when I tried to hardware unlock my phone and failed. Personally I think you just get that when bbupdater fails to comunicate with the base band. You get this after it makes like 9 attempts to comunicate with the base band right?
Its strange that the fist one work and not he second maybe try turning the commcenter back on and off again.

Unfortunatly though when I had this no one ever came up with a solution and I took it in to apple (apple stores in other countries will offer to send it in for you so if you aren't in the states you are not stuck) one of the techs played around with mine for a while and got nowhere they sent it in and were sent back a brand new one

the Two command are linked with TWO files so check that you have uploaded the two files inside the /usr/sbin they are : ICE03.14.08_G.fls and ICE03.14.08_G.eep after that run the commands :
    1.bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls
    2.bbupdater -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep

guys, your problem is m0re likely fixed doing a restore of the iphone. and start all over dont start messing with the baseband and the comcenter, because you might really brick the iphone.. bunch of people had bricked thier iphones for not updating the baseband properly...

spend a little time(restore) .. and dont brick your iphones...
