more details:
I was in the middle of the hw unlock quick version. I got to the part where you connect the needles and run iunlocker which seemed to work(test point successful etc., did the dumping) . However bbupdater couldnt ping so i decided to restore in itunes. It starts normally finishes the software restore and then it gets to the firmware response and after a minute or two it gives the error message . I tried restoring a bunch of times from a pc and a mac with the same result. anyone have a clue what the problem could be?

tintinto, i did EXACTLY the same as you and got exactly the same problem. I think i damaged the 1.8V source, will check with a microscope.

have a look at this topic... try the launch daemon solution if you can still boot it and connect using iphoneinterface. They are having the same problem as you guys and I'm fairly sure that it doesn't mean you've bricked it.

Help Us to Help You
I spoke to Geohot last night about idea's regarding phones being stuck in "Recovery Mode" and the 1011 error.
If anyone wants to donate a phone in this state to help investigate the problem, PM me.
If the phone is operational at the end, you will get it back H/W unlocked.
