Default Error 1002: restore issue / yellow triangle!

I recently attempted the HW unlock, all went fine until the iPhone dropped WIFI and the putty terminal session froze. I checked the iPhone and it said NO WIFI. So I decided to restore the phone through iTunes.

When I rebooted the phone the apple logo came up and after a few seconds the yellow triangle saying connect to itunes (recovery mode).

So I launched itunes and kicked of the recovery process. After 10 minutes or so I get an error saying the "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1002)".

I have removed itunes, rebooted, re-installed itunes, tried on a different machine. But still get the exact same error.

Having found the restore log files, there seems to be something happening near the end (after comparing to GJs log files on the wiki http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/index.php/Gj's_Notes#restore_process)

Here are the last few lines from my log file:

It would be interesting to know if there is any other method of reflashing/ restoring the iphone's firmware other than itunes - or maybe through a serial telnet/ terminal session?

Just for reference - here is my thread on the same error: Dead Restore Error 1002

Damn the popularity of the forums burying threads!

lol, that's five bricks between us - should start building a wall.

If anybody finds a solution please share.

I feel it has something to do with flashing the last part of the firmware (maybe the baseband?).

RESOLVED: Finally got my phone back to life, thanks to FJT and his post here:

    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5666

Now I am getting "iPhone cannot make or receive calls", but a lot better than the damn yellow triangle!

Ok, this worked for me to, but now I need to get a Terminal on to the phone and unfortunately the script doesn't seem to want to work. Does anyone have a AppTap style installer for Terminal that will allow me to get a command line and try the bbupdate?

    Cheers, Chris W.
