I am a PC user on XP using Outlook 2007 on an 8GB software unlocked iPhone on T-Mobile USA. My mail setup looks good but I can't send messages. I can recieve but not send. I use earthlink and the path smtp.earthlink.net is on there, the same I use for my PC. Am I doing something wrong? Update I FIXED this problem already.


While I'm at it 2 other questions. Is it possible to save pictures email to you into your photos section on the iPhone? Supposedly we can view emailed PDFs but I sent one and it wouldnt download it. Size was 445k. Wondering if there is a size limitation for attachments. Tried to send a PDF that was 45k and it wouldn't download either. Showed up as a 2kb file so it obviously didn't open. Thanks guys.

1 more thing. Got my earthlink email settings to work so that's good. If anyone else has a problem I'll post the settings. Let me know. After testing a few send and receive emails things are good, BUT no matter if I've read them all or not, on my Iphone desktop it always has a 1 message indicator. I cleared my inbox and the 1 is still there. Inside my inbox I get a message "Load 25 more messages." What does that mean?

the load 25 more messages isnt there anymore but the springboard email # is always wrong and usually says 1. PLEASE i know lots of people are in here help me out. Isn't that what this forum is for? to help each other with their iPhones? Help a brother out and answer the few duestions I have out of all my posts here. Thanks..

How did you fix the outgoing email issue as I've got the same problem.

for example, my mail address for incoming email is pop3.nexent.net and its also the same for outgoing

But when I put the settings in manually i.e pop3.nexent.net with the correct username and password it doesnt work. says it cant contact the server, althoug it must be able to cos it downloads email fromt he same address.

Now when I sync my settings in Itunes (i'm using outlook 2003) it puts in the outgoing mail server as pop3.nexent.net:25 - indicating it to use port 25 but it still wont work, says it cant conatct the server.

any ideas. would love to get this bit working

no, you can't save the pictures. at least not yet. make sure your pdf has the extension .pdf
make sure your outlook is not re-packaging your .pdf file into a win.dat file or something like that..

I have currently on my email pdf's that are 4 MB and open without problems.
The missing extension is usually the problem..

do you have ssl enabled? check in the advanced setting..
