What kind of problem are you seeing?

I am having a similar issue. Basically, I can't send from a POP account because the phone won't allow me to save my SMTP settings (the "authentication" menu is disabled in the advanced settings). I'd love to know how to fix this one.

why dont you try not to set up your account by using itunes ?

just key in those required information in settings>mail>add account>other

just simply fill up those incoming & outgoing server and passwords and it will do

    1. Yahoo can not be used with POP unless you upgrade your account.
    2. Some email providers do not allow sending mail, unless you are logged into their network (read internet). So, sending mail while using another internet connection then the one the POP account belongs to is with some providers not possible.

I'm getting an SMTP error when using IMAP accounts as well though. I know for certain that the settings are correct but the phone itself won't let me save the settings.

Most cell providers only allow traffic on port 80 on the lower-priced data plans. If you're using a $5 a month unlimited plan, this is almost certainly the case. Since incoming an outgoing email utilize ports other than 80 depending on the type of server and whether SSL is used, you won't be able to send or receive email over EDGE if only port 80 is available.

I'm using the more expensive 19.95/month data plan on T-Mobile and it used to work fine when I used the 1.0.2 FW so I don't think that's the issue. What I'm really interested to know if the problem is with my phone specifically or with 1.1.1 in general. I figured restoring the FW has a good chance to fix it but I'd rather not go through that if it's more of a universal problem.
