Default [EMail]iPhone 2 and Push email

Ok, this might not be the right section but couldn't think where else...

Here in Spain we use Movistar, and after a meeting with our account manager they tell us that they will have the iPhone 2 in 1 month... And it will also have something called MailMovistar, essentially an email client on it similar to the Blackberry client allowing us to send and receive unlimited emails for a monthly flat rate, when I asked him about whether this will work on the iPhone 1 he said no... Now I don't believe this as the only real difference I can see causing a problem (if you can call it that) is the 3G.... So does anyone know...

    1. If there is any other reason it would work on iPhone 2 and not 1?
    2. If it is a software app will it be possible to copy off iPhone 2 and install on iPhone 1, obviously I might need to install the 2.0 firmware...
    3. Unlikely I know but does anyone know anyhting about the MailMovistar software? I have a suspicion that it is just a push client and that the iPhone 1 built in client will use the same service (and be able to use the flat rate email service)

    Thanks everyone!

Does spain have an official iphone 1 operator? If not, that could be the reason why they said it will not work on iphone 1. It could also be their way of making you buy the latest iphone (more money for them).

NO it was never officially available, but my question is what exactly could they do to stop it working on the iPhone 1? I know the mail service is provided by SEVEN, who also supply AT&T... amonghst others and they say it will work on all java enabled mobiles...
