Default EDGE Proxy, did anyone fix this yet?

T-Mobile, with the cheap data plan uses a HTTP EDGE proxy. My e-mail works fine, but no web. I looked through the EDGESettings.plist and by playing with it I can make the proxy stuff appear, but the fields don't work, in fact the data doesn't even stick around when you restart settings. I'd bet there is a flag somewhere to enable all edge settings. Anyone find it yet?

Aye, if I could get this to work, my iPhone would be 100% except Visual Voice Mail.

There is a proxy program "tinyproxy" but I do not belive it works with edge...maybe there is a way to adjust this for edge settings

I'm looking for the same thing. As far I found that the edge settings (APN, user, pass) are not stored where they should be in com.apple.preferences.edge.plist but in preferences.plist inside System preferences.
Probably the edge implementation is not supporting proxy in this version of the FW? Too bad

All those proxy settings in EdgeSettings.plist have no reference in 'EDGESettings executable', so mostly we have to wait for update from Apple. Only additional settings referred is edgeDNS apart form apn,UN,PW. Mostl likely there will be com.apple.preferences.edge.plist under ~/Library/Preference, where edgeproxy type will be defined 0,1,2, based on that UI will appear under Edge Settings.

    Default GPRS .plist Help Needed

My carrier does not support iPhone yet. To use their GPRS, they need to send you a configuration SMS which is proprietary to the phone which is not yet supported.

I need to change these GRPS setting in the iPhone:

    # Connection name: Mobile Internet

    # Data Bearer: GPRS or Packet Data

    # Access Point Name: gprs.qtel

    # Username: gprs

    # Password: gprs

    # Prompt Password: No

    # Authentication: Normal

    # Network Type: IPV4

    # Phone IP address: Automatic

    # Name Servers: Automatic

    # Proxy serv. Address: 10.23.8.3

    # Proxy Port number: 8080

Where can I enter these ? Is there a .plist I can modify ??

    Thanks

I am in the same boat. I am on Qtel. Using the *3001#12345#* I can see that it recieves a GPRS IP address and I can ping the proxy but other than that nothing. I can't even resolve addresses. Plus if you remove the username and password it still connects giving a IP. I think that the proxy is what is holding up the packets. I configured the EDGESettings.plist with the proxy settings but still a no go.

Have you tried removing all details in the Edge configuration and see what happens? On my phone (Orange France), the GPRS details are picked up from the SIM card.

Yes I tried that after reading it was suggested. That did nothing. It actually severed the connection totally. I was unable to pull a IP from Qtel. So far here is what I think is the problem and it is known, the proxy settings. I am getting on the network and can ping the proxy server but alas can not get my packets to go to Port 8080. The EDGESettings.plist does have edgeproxy in it but when I set it up it still does not work. If I was able to add a proxy into Safari I believe that would be the answer but Safari get's its info (from what I read) from the OS. The OS only has one place to put a proxy address and port and that is in the WiFI. I am hoping that someone soon figures out a script or work around for this problem. But thanks for the suggestion.
