    Default Edge & private APN

    Hi all!

I lurked for a while (well thanks to you i unlocked my brand new iphone and now it's time for.. questions!! ok just one..

At workplace we got a private APN, wich we use to access intranet services via cellphone.

I tryed to configure the APN in the Edge Settings, with my own username and password (cleartext password.. BAD BAD BAD steve!!) but when i try to connect to intranet site with safari i've a not so nice message..

"Could not activate EDGE: PDP authentication failure"

I was having this problem times ago while trying to connect via umts from my laptop with my old nokia, what i had to do was to disable chap authentication in ppp conf file, ok, i suppose i got the PDP auth failure from iphone because it tryes to authenticate via chap... so... how could i be sure of this?

Is there any hidden configuration file were i can say to use PAP instead of CHAP?

    Thanks all!!

Apple devices don't support chap authentication. You have to have your Service provider enable PAP on the APN and you also have to athenticate against a radius server. Found that if no accept packet is recieved by the device no PDP session is created
