Earphones replacement out of the US
his should be a forum for everybody who lives out of the USA and needs a replacement of his earphones and maybe other components, delivered with the iPhone.
I was staying in San Francisco for a short period of time and got the iPhone there.
Then I moved to Sydney (Australia) and am using my iPhone here.
Unfortunately my earphones are nearly broken, the sound has got very bad, the cable around the microphone and the rubber around the earphones is blistering.
Now I tried to replace them with the Apple Do-It-Yourself repair program.
But because the iPhone wasn't registered at iTunes, it is saying that my warranty is not effected by the registration. But I can't replace, neither towards Apple Australia nor Apple US web-page.
Does anybody else has an idea how to replace the earphones? Coz it is defiantly a matter of warranty. Thats for sure! And as a long years Apple customer I know that Apple products have a 1 year world wide warranty. I mad good experience with my PowerBook (which I purchased in US and used for Uni in Europe) and with my several iPods (for one I was able to replace the earphones in Australia, although I purchased it in Germany).
I'm sure I'm not the only with that problem
I believe you are out of luck. Unless you walk into any apple store in the country that officially sold iPhone and ask for a replacement. You won't be able to send it in for a replacement because you did not legallly activated your iPhone, so no warranty coverage until you do.
Buy a replacement on eBay
There are some sellers from Asia that sell the geniune product for dirt cheap (since the Apple factory is there so they managed to "get their hands on it")
Otherwise, you're out of luck.
