ok i'll try to explain what i did

i opened itunes.exe file into the hex editor

i tried to look for the "dec" 2048912 in the "goto" looking option and it put my cursor on the "hex" that i've modified by entering 33C0C3... then i did it again by clicking "go to again" up to the next cursor position and i changed again by 33C0C3.... I've done this til the end of the file and then did the same for the 2 other offsets.
I saved the file, opened the phone activation server, then try to run itunes, but it doesn't open now....

    what was my mistake?

    finally i got it...

use Ultraedit-32, open iTunes.exe, press Ctrl-G and enter first offset no. 2048912, then change the hex code according to Jon.

Same for the other 2 set of data.

Now I could open iTunes without any problem after the change.

Although I have no iPhone with me Cannot try if it really works

Your mistake was not reading the instructions. Your second mistake was entering 33C0C3 two times. Your third mistake was thinking that there are 4 offsets (it sounds to me like you edited 4 offsets based on what you wrote) to edit, there are only three.

    Here are Jon's instructions again:

    Offset 2048912: 33C0C3
    Offset 257074: 28
    Offset 257013: 33C9B1
    Add “127.0.0.1 albert.apple.com” to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Download Phone Activation Server v1.0 to activate your iPhone for iPod+WiFi use. Note that this application will not do anything unless you understand the magic numbers as well as add the hosts entry. Phone Activation Server (PAS) requires that you have the MS .NET Framework 2.0 installed.

Use the go to so you can find the offset easier, then change the data.

i think there's a bit of confusion about offset - at least it happens to me

when one open a file using hex editor such as ultraedit, there are 2 set of numbers for each byte:

    0x111111h, 2222222

I was confused that 2048912 is the first number (hex address) of the two, so I changed the incorrect bytes and couldn't open itunes

Instead offset refer to the 2nd number (decimal address). So use Ctrl-G in Ultraedit and you are done!

am i right with the following?

use goto, and select DECIMAL. then enter e.g. 2048912.
the hex-editor will set your cursor to a certain position. now overwrite the following characters with e.g. 33C0C3.

do this with all offsets and you're done.

    am i right with this?

it's indeed decimal address. in ultraedit just use the command ctrl-g (Goto Line/Page/Bookmark)
