Also doesnt roger have some data plans? How much are they and will they work with iphones?

Yes it works for me, but i got charged $16 dollars for checking my email.
This was on rogers.

MattCairns, what is your data plan like? Have you looked into other operators? Do you know the rates for fido or bell?

I have my iPhone working just fine with Rogers Edge. It`s expensive as hell I opted for a 5MB mth plan. I only use it when I have too. I manually wipe out the settings when I am finished incase I accidentally hit a icon I do not mean to.
The settings are as follows.
APN internet.com
User wapuser1
Pass wap

I have to wipe out all the setting and restart the phone. If I only wipe out one line the Edge network stays active.
As long as you do not use Google Maps the usage it not too bad. (For OCCASIONAL Checking)

P.S makes no different what Bell, or Telus offers. The phoen will not work on their network.

After listening to you it just kind of killed my motivation to get an iphone

Any use for data is just too expensive in Canada

and as purely a phone its not that different from any good phone

Better wait and buy the ipod touch

Us canadians get ripped off on everything. Im on a pay as you go rogers plan but im not sure on the rates for edge, but it wont really make a difference because any plan will be a total rip off anyways. I dont need egde anyways. Fido is owned by Rogers so i doubt it will be any different and i dont think bell is GSM.

Edit: Yep the only GSM providers in Canada are
Rogers
Fido (Owned by rogers)
and ICE wireless in Inuvik and Yellowknife.
