I have an activated iPhone via the InformIT method (ie get plan and cancel it within three days for free) and YouTube works just fine. I now have a perfectly fine iPDA...

I was thinking about the 3 day thing but I wonder if when the first software update is available, will it call home and realize the phone isn't active. DVD Jon's method spoofs the activation server so I would think that would provide an extra layer of protection (I am not sure if it works that way though) if that happens.
