Btw, they uploaded a new version of iTunes (still iTunes 8) that's a little smaller in size and would fix the BSOD error in Vista.
Thanks for the info. I use mac regardless. I am updating to 2.1 at the moment. Will let you know what DiskAid thinks.

Yep... it's not working.
Ah well, guess I'll have to wait for the jailbreak to be able to fix the phone number template plist.

Nothing out of the ordinary, I would think. To have root access (outside the Media folder) you need to jailbreak. It has always been that way -- it's the definition of jailbreak.
"No jailbreak needed" on DiskAid's website is also true: you don't need to jailbreak to access your Media folder through DiskAid.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.
Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

The dropdown menu at the bottom left in DiskAid is greyed out?
I suggest you give iPhoneBrowser a try, it's really good. See http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52193
