    Default Disabling EDGE?

    Hi

After updating to 1.1.1 i found my edge data was removed. No problem i thought, but my carrier here in the Uk is cool with no setting being in there and likes to hop onto GPRS and is costing me a small fortune.

If i go to Setting -> Network -> EDGE and put some random junk in there it will bounce my GPRS connections, great i thought. Untill i reboot the phone. Then my settings disappear.

I have tried editing the com.apple.carrier.plist file and put some random data in there like so:
    <key>apn</key>
    <string>dont</string>
    <key>password</key>
    <string>cost</string>
    <key>username</key>
    <string>memoney</string>

But the settings are not picked up. Could anyone help me out with this? I'd be very greatful

to disable edge properly ring your provider and put a barr on wap and Internet it worked for me and got rid of the e for edge ,its much easier than altering files.

The icon E doesn't dissapear when you turn EDGE off using SERVICES. It just put the word "disabled" on your APN settings, so it can't connect at all.

If you read my 2nd paragraph i am doing this, yet it is resetting after a reboot.

I guess i will try my provider

guys i have a slightly diff problem here. even if i disable Edge and connect to my wifi, i stillget the E sign on the task bar at the top. This wont let me connect to any of the wifi nor the edge.

i really want to use edge when im out and about but also want to use wifi when im at home, but i just cant get both to work

if i turn the wifi off and put my gprs settings back, then the edge works. but i just cant get the wifi to work

just to confirm it actully connects to my wifi but i dont get the wifi symbol on the task bar

    any help appreciated
