    Exclamation Disable itunes upgrade checking

    By adding this line:

    127.0.0.1 nwk.itunes.com

to your host file located in:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\

Itunes won't be able to check the upgrade server. Better be safe than sorry, at least while we know for sure if future updates will work with our phones.

Someone will have to create a fake iTunes update server, so that iTunes allows people to run a full restore of 1.0.2.

to completely isolate itunes from the upgrade servers I added two extra lines to the hosts file, now it looks like this:

    127.0.0.1 nwk.itunes.com
    127.0.0.1 www.itunes.com
    127.0.0.1 nwk-www.apple.com

    and for macs?

Surely disabling 'check for updates' is good enough

why do these people complicate matters??? just turn off automatic update check in pref's, even if you have not done that you have to go through at least three ACCEPTS to start the download. You would have to be offically stupid to download and install 1.1.1 "accidently", and theirfore should not be allowed to own a PC.
