Default Did I brick my iphone (won't restart)

I was trying to transfer some files to my iphone and apparently overwrote some of the wrong things. Now when I turn the iphone on, it flashes the apple logo, then restarts, repearting over and over. Holding the power and home button do nothing more. Anyone have any ideas? I can never get pass the apple loading logo.

okay, an update in case someone elses runs into this. In order to get it into recovery mode I had to take it out of the dock and plug the power directly into the wall. I was then able to hold down the power and home button and it restarted going into recovery mode directing me to connect to itunes. Plugged my dock back up and put the iphone in, launched itunes, and it lead me through the restore. Thanks for everyones help.
