Default Did Apple leave the iphone with niggly issues on purpose ?

I'm very new to the iphone, infact this is my first smartphone, and I'm very impressed, it certainly is a great piece of kit, but for every really cool well thought out feature it has, it also has some glaring issues in the ways that it works. so far, the frustrations....

1, Not able to forward text messages

2, Not bieng able to copy and paste from page to page

3, Alarm does not activate when phone is off overnight

4, alerts to text etc not that great, two beeps and thats it, my recent phones had all nagged you with alerts at an interval you could set for missed calls, texts, calender entries etc

5, no reminder for answerphone message (that I could see) after the initial on screen notice has been cleared

Still getting used to it, and I can already see how this is overall still the best phone by MILES, will be 'really' good if these issues are sorted out by future software updates

If anyone has the answer to solving any of the issues mentioned above, please point me in the direction,

    thanks very much

    Paul

    Hi there...

Most (if not all) of your issues/concerns are resolved by installing 3rd party applications (i.e. MySMS, iLog, hClipboard, etc.) from Cydia. Surf around and you'll see.

    Good Luck!

P.S. The alarm should go off when the iPhone is asleep or idle.

as far as my limited knowledge suggests, Apple have done their best to prevent software not certified by themselves, does installing 'third party' software assume that you have a jailbroken phone ?
I'm not very lucky, so am wary of 'in depth' modifications

does the third party sms application run within the pre-installed 'text' application, or become an alternative icon and application on the phone ? (whilst the original remains on the phone ?

I will search this site and the web, but any help is 'really' useful and appreciated

    thanks

    Paul

the user can choose if they prefer to have the "3rd party SMS app" as the default text app or not. the stock app remains.

other "3rd party apps" may not replace other stock apps, but act as a mere extension with more features/functions.

also, the iTunes app store offers other "Apple approved" alternatives that you may be more comfortable to install via the iTunes UI...of course, with a price tag attached.

    Have fun!

to answer the original question, apple is being dumb and slowly adding "useful" features to the iphone but they are more focused on preventing jailbreak and unlock rather than making the phone overall better

This is bleeding edge Tech you are going to have problems.
Who dont remember Windows Mobile in the early days.

I think they will have most issues sorted by Firmware 10.
By which time they will also figure out how to prevent the Jail Breakers from getting in.
But by then. There will be other phones with more features for half the price.

true, thats what i think they will focus on most is to prevent jailbreakers and low effort in adding new useful features
