The problem is that there were several changes in 3.0 that need that part, specially for new attachments and devices. So it may work and even provide sound. But other stuff may fail.
    then what should i do?

Wait for a true iPhoneOS 3.0 solution. This is not a major problem, but rather a little nuisance. So, patience is the key here.

I am about to finalize my patch, but I still have one thing to consider:
There are 3 different scenarios for devices attached to the dock connector:

1-Audio capable devices, with or without charging capabilities. It will offer the option to turn airplane mode on.

2-Other devices with charging capabilities. It will simply display a message with a dismiss button.

3-Other devices. It will just display a message with a dismiss button.

Each is a different program path in the program. Bluntly disabling all messages is not a good idea as it will not show charging problems like a 12V charger on a 5V only device.

That said, I want opinions on what should be bypassed.

Ive been searching all over for a workaround to this and finally found this post (registered just for it!).

I'll admit I was excited to read the first few pages in which it seemed there was a pretty easy fix, only to see it doesnt sound so easy to do.

Speaking for myself, I use a car dock connector to listen to and charge my iPhone. The only thing I personally care about is having audio out of the dock connector.

So if theres someway to do this, but still remove that super annoying message every single time I plug my phone in, that would be ideal!!

    Thanks!

I'd say, disable message 1 only. Haven't seen the other two, and with audio devices you normally know whether they are made for the iPhone (it's on de box).

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

I'm currently away from home, out of the country. I will be back early next week and I will get this done for good. The problem is testing.... it requires me to get to the car And the garage is not that close (12 floors down)

i vote for the first one too.

pd: i have seen maybe 3 times in my life, all post 3.0, a message with onlly an accept option, telling me that the device was not meant for the iphone.

i dont know why i got that message instead of the normal one offering me to go into airplane mode.

Hi, I have a damaged dock connector due to some water getting into it. There are a lot of people in my situation. We receive the same errors messages as you get when you plug your iphone with an unauthorized device... except we don't even plug anything to get the message.

Basically we randomly get dock error messages, and the sound from the iphone speaker is disabled. There are already many iapd files patched to fix this problem for OS 2.2.1 (2G and 3G) and for OS 3.0 (3G). But none of them work for OS 3.0 + iPhone 2G (my case).

I believe your fix will apply to our situation, I am willing to test different iapd files you may create and report if the problem is fixed or not (error message + disabled sound).

Thanks a lot for your work, I wish I had the technical knowledge to do it myself!
