    do you mind giving a bit broader description? The link to instruction is for Aspen Simulator... while you give link to archive with whole Preferences.app content... saying "replace files you need"...

    What are the steps that are to be taken to get TOUCH prefs in Settings->General?

    Is there a possible way to install TOUCH via Installer 4 or Cydia?

    Actually screw the earlier post.!
    add this to your existing General.plist

    Code:
    <dict>
    			<key>cell</key>
    			<string>PSLinkCell</string>
    			<key>label</key>
    			<string>Touch</string>
    		</dict>
    		<dict>
    			<key>cell</key>
    			<string>PSLinkCell</string>
    			<key>label</key>
    			<string>Tweaks</string>
    		</dict>
    copy the touch.plist (optional) and tweaks.plist into the folder.

    please do let me know if it works for you

    Wordpad would do

    i did read your post. it seems that there is some problem with the permissions and or the springboard plist.

    since i dont have a similar problem i can only make an assumption.

    try using the (in built touch.plist file)

    are you by any chance on pre 2.1 OS???
    for some reason my General.plist seems to be in ASCII format (i'm on 2.1)
    the image shows a file in binary format which needs to be converted to ASCII to be editable in wordpad This Should do the trick.http://scw.us/iPhone/plutil/
    i did google up on Binary to ASCII conversion and found that there is usually no need to convert the files back to binary format.

    try the General.plist file that was there in my package along with the settings-iphone.plist

    Thank you for URL... I don't really understand how to use this perl script... though I downloaded it...

    I am currently on 2.0.2 Firmware

    I tried to copy the whole package to my iPhone... after that the Settings won't open... when I select it... it starts loading and then just pops back to SpringBoard without any message... ))
