    Default Data solution in CANADA

The data issue has been solved in canada! I have 100% tested this out myself and it works great (although slowly lol)

you will need to be on fido for this, and i suggest going to a fido store rather than calling but im sure calling works too.

i whent to a fido store told them i got a phone from my brother and wanted to activate it. they asked what phone and i just told them "oh i dont remember the name, its super cool though and flips up and lets you surf the net"
the girl was like "oh thats a hiptop, but im not sure we can still give you the plan for that."
she called fido and got the OK and even managed to add the unlimited data herself without calling them back (she didnt think she would be able to)
she asked if i had the phone on me and i said "oh should i have brought that?" told me dont worry and made up an IMEI (the print out has it as 222222222228)

so now you have unlimited data for $20, on to the set up.

    put your edge settings at
    APN: internet.fido.ca
    user : fido
    pass: fido

and you are all set now! enjoy how iPhone was meant to be!!!

btw, you dont even have to do a contract with fido now, you only get a contract if you buy a phone, so you arent stuck on anything

Doesn't the carrier know which phone you are on and block the usage where applicable (i.e. you can't use the hiptop unlimited plan on another device)? I always thought this was the issue with doing this type of thing.

I thought the HT data goes through a different server and a regular phones could not be configured to use them? If I were you I'd double check to make sure your data is not being pulled at the regular outrageously high Fido prices, you may get a nasty surprised come next billing cycle.

Fido $20/month unlimited data plan for the Hiptop 2 will NOT work on an iPhone.

    Period.

Damn, I so want an unlimited data plan like that. I'll have to hit up the nearest Fido kiosk on the way home!
