So I updated my 3G to firmware 3.1.2 (was previously 3.1) then ran Spirit and all was well. Opened Cydia and selected complete update, restarted, then select "User" and then clicked to "Make my life easier".

Pressed the home button and then tried to go back into Cydia and it looks like its going to load cause I see a black screen for three seconds and then it returns me to springboard.

I would power off the iphone and see but unfortunately the standyby/wake button does not work.

So I'm wondering before I restore it again, what caused this. Surely this has happened to someone other than me. I don't understand what went wrong because well, as the title states it was a fresh jailbreak and all I did was update Cydia and enter in my wifi connection.

[strikeout]edit: also tried to connect to it via SSH through puTTY but I kept getting "Connection Refused"[/strikeout]
edit2: alright restored and did everything the same except i just put "essentials" instead of complete and so far so good.
