    Question Copying files FROM iPhone

I have deleted some videos from my iTunes library and would like them back. They are still on my iPhone. Does anyone have an idea of how to copy media files OFF of an iPhone? Senuti doesn't seem to work, and I am not sure where in its filesystem the iPhone stores music and videos. Now that I think of it, it would also be nice to copy off pictures via USB as well.

    Any thoughts?

I've been able to get my photos by plugging in with aperture...treats it like any other camera. I don't know about other files though.

With mine, iPhoto automatically opens when I plug the iPhone in.

However the real answer is to use iPHUC and 'getfile' on the media files, which are stored in the jail. You don't even need to jailbreak the phone to get to the media filesystem - it's just not mounted the normal way over USB.

In the jail directory you'll find:
    DCIM
    Photos
    com.apple.itunes.lock_sync
    iTunes_Control

The pictures are in DCIM (like other digital cameras) down a directory or two.
The music files are in iTunes_Control but obfuscated in normal iPod style (name scrambling, directory scrambling)

If you're not into hacking this is probably the clearest way. If you are, then get jailbroken, install the bintools and scp the whole Media jail (which is in /private/var/root/Media) off onto a backup machine.
