Default Contact Photos on File System?

So i was adding a new contact and decided to take advantage of the 'take photo' option instead of taking a picture and associating it with a contact. I was sad to find out that the picture I had taken was not with the rest of my photos.

I've searched all around the phone and all around the file system with no luck. Does anyone know where these photos are stored?

Figures that the best picture I've ever taken of this person I can't get!!

    i have the same prob.
i know the photos get synced with my MS Outlook Address Book.
but when i sync the contacts back onto my iphone, the photo is cropped 1/4th from the top and 1/4th from the bottom, leaving only half of the photo left on my iphone.
thats coz the photos get cropped when they r originally synced from the iphone to the address book.
thats why i wud also like to know the path where the contact pics r stored so that i can back them up onto my pc incase i need to do a restore.
so does anyone know the exact path for these contact pics?
    thanx, in advance.

They are in sqlite database, not on the filesystem.

ok gr8. now how do i extract the photo from this sqlite database?
the iphone must be storing it somewhere and in some format on its flash drive.
its surprising no one else has asked this before coz in the end u have a cropped version of ur contact pics, in the address book.

ok, so the entire address book of the iphone is stored in these 2 sql files?
where exactly r these files located and do i just need to do a copy paste transfer back to the same folder of the iphone, incase i have to do a restore?
if this is practically possible then that means no more syncing with the usb cable to the address book thru itunes and so i can wirelessly (using wincp) drag n drop these 2 sql files between the pc and the iphone, and my contacts r synced with the full size pics.

is there r way to view/edit these sqlitedb files from the pc?
were u able to successfully restore these backed up sqlitedb files onto the iphone, once a firmware restore was done?
also, do u know how to backup the SMSs that r stored on the iphone?
and will copying them back onto the iphone after a firmware restore will retain the conversation format of the SMSs?

firstly, its surprising that each time someone else answers to my queries.
secondly, thanx CU3BALL....i downloaded and tried sqlite administrator and i was able to open these two sqlitedb files successfully.
but as the name suggests, these r basically just sql tables containing sql data types and records.
even the images r in binary format in these tables, therefore trying to modify or view the actual contacts and their images isnt possible.
so my other two questions still remain unanswered.....
is it possible to copy paste these two files back onto the iphone in the address book folder to restore my contacts along with their original (uncropped) images?
or do i have to still depend on the ms outlook sync?
also, where and how do i backup the SMSs from?
and will copy-pasting them back onto the iphone retain the conversation format of the SMSs?

These files are in /var/root/library/addressbook if anyone wants to know and yes you can copy and paste them back in and overwrite the existing ones after changing firmware and they work just fine including the pictures.
Maybe someone else know a better way, but the only way i have found to save SMSs is by using Wetool and copying the individual SMS to notepad and then using the notepad export and import functions, but then it would only exist in Notepad.
    Hope that helps
