    * The place where I got the information is confidential, if this is a joke from my contact please don't post anything more on this thread.

This is ridiculous and i am getting a little sick of these stupid claims and rumours and yet another stupid thread that has no thought put into it whatsoever.

lets get this straight right now.

Apple WILL NOT unlock iPhones tomorrow or anytime soon so GET OVER IT!

Apple will not break their 5 year contract with AT&T.

Apple will not jeopardise their reputation in the world as a company that breaks, backs out of or renegs contracts at any stage as it would be COMMERCIAL RUIN

Apple are not greatly interested in a few people Hacking their iPhone. When it becomes a concern to them or jeopardises their worldwide contracts with telco carriers they will address it.

Thats it. this is THE FACTS of the case. Dont like it BIG DEAL Apple dont give a flying fox what you think.

Default Have you already think about this?

Have you already think about why iphonesimfree or iphoneunlocking have not release nothing by today, iphonesimfree told everyone that they are going to release the software and by this time there is nothing.

Also tomorrow is the Apple event at this times:

    7:00AM - Hawaii
    10:00AM - Pacific
    11:00AM - Mountain
    12:00PM - Central
    1:00PM - Eastern
    5:00PM - GMT
    6:00PM - London
    7:00PM - Paris
    2:00AM - Tokyo (September 6th)

Tomorrow big things are going to be released, maybe a new Ipod like the Iphone, and also an Ipod nano, and also an Iphone NANO.

max - there are some very smart guys on this forum (i do not include me in that).

if you come here spouting the garbage you have then you should expect people to shoot you down in flames.

    Your argument here is pathetic.

I don't think that Apple will unlock iphones anytime soon. Buy I could be wrong!

With IPSF, people will send so much money to them based on what?
CNN.... I don't know! (Why couldn't they gone to more details, did you tube work, how was it done... ECT)

I don't see any reason to flame others at this point in time. While people are sending (soon) 1000's of dollors to buy some software they haven't even seen!
They don't know how it works, they don't know who they are going to send the money.

Faith People!!! That's what it is!!! We will know soon, just like the news that Apple will unlock the iphone. His clams might be week, but (FOR ME and Myself only) IPSF clams look just as week. But I still have faith!!!

Here's why I think Apple 'could' sell an unlock code. I personnaly don't think they will, but I wouldn't be 'that' surprised if they did.

When I first heard of the hacking community trying to install Windows on Intel Macs, I never imagined that Apple would release Bootcamp. Apple 'supporting' Windows? Dream on. But they did. Another thing that surprised me was that Bootcamp was 'beta'. Apple dosen't usually releases 'beta' software. And they released it right after hackers claimed that they got trough with Windows on a Mac. As if Apple said to themselves "Hackers got it out quicker than we were able to finalize it, Bootcamp is quite stable, let's release it as beta and 'officialy' market our Macs as 'Macs do Windows too'.". Maybe they wanted it to be a 'One more thing...' in a Leopard keynote as Safari for Windows was. Maybe not. But we'll never know.

Then there's the whole iPhone thing. AT&T got an exclusive 5 years contract. It's long. Almost like 15 'non-tech' years. I don't even remember the 'hot' cell phones 5 years back. But no one knows what's the real deal behind that contract . What if the contract said "AT&T will be the sole provider of the iPhone for the next five years. If hackers unlock it, Apple can provide an unlock code for xx$ and AT&T will get xx% of it for the remaining contract duration.". Why not? They still get their 'five years deal' + compensation. Apple makes more money on iPhone sales, users are happy and everyone gets along.

But then, why does 'Voicemail' redirects you to your regular voicemail if the function isn't available from your provider instead of simply blocking or returning an error? Why can you select carriers once unlocked if technically, only AT&T should be selectable? I think Apple 'wants' us to use the iPhone 'if' you can get trough it. Like Bootcamp. And as soon as a solution looks like getting out, surprise, Apple releases the unlock. And for a fee that is. With all the buzz around the iPhoneSimFree unlock, I think Apple/AT&T got a clear picture of what users would pay for a software unlock. If AT&T is happy on getting let's say, 75$ per Apple unlock, they're at least getting some considerable money otherwise sent to hackers from software unlock sales and Apple from iPhone sales. Leaving AT&T in the dust.

And what a better time to release it than during the new iPods keynote. iPhone sales could drop if they release an iPhone minus phone iPod. But could get a nice kick if unlocked by Apple themselves. Lots of iPod sales, more iPhone sales, AT&T gets their share, everyone's happy.

It's a nice and big fairytale I know. But as said earlier, I really don't think Apple will release any kind of unlock code. But if they do...

Its funny how apple is hosting an event tomorrow to release a new ipod (according to rumors, but its pretty likely) and somehow, somewhere someone comes up with the notion that, hell, if they are releasing a new ipod then they must be unlocking the iphone while they're at it. Seriously? I love rumors/conspiracies, but this one is a little out there. IPSF where art thou?

    @ hkbloke

You have some good arguments but:

    - Apple is moving to Windows market for some time now. The Windows apps, the intel processor...Bootcamp was an estrategic movement towards the PC users market. No contratcs were broke.

    - All features you mentioned (after unlock) arent lock or unlock related. iPhone is a global product. Make sense that when you call voicemail, you didnt get an error message. It's much more easy to localize it on future markets. Same thing for the Carriers menu option.

Those are not evidences of a possible unlock from Apple. In my opinion, there is only one way to get an unlock from Apple: if they are forced by law.
