I use my Iphone to listen to music in the car however I miss the fact that I can't feel the buttons to tell it to go to next track like my 5G. I was wondering if it was possible to configure the home button to open the Ipod AND go to next track.

dude, go to setting and home botton and change to ipod! (only if you have iphone firmware 1.1.1 or 1.1.2) then everytime u double click homebotton ipod control panel will appear then u can change track from there! as easy as that! or check out apple.com to see how it works!

I guess you didnt get my original question I want to be able to change tracks without looking at the screen.

Just memorise where the forward and back buttons are? Or buy a 5G for the car

the "customizing" with only 2 options is also not what I would like to have.
some for flexibility - as "next track" - would be really usefull

with the headphones that came with the iphone.. just press the button on the mic twice quickly and it goes to the next track d00d...

thanks, that sounds like a great way to solve my problem.

Still think that some customization of the home button might be a good project if someone has the technical skills

EDIT: just been thinking, im using my headphone jack to output to a cassette tape so i can play the ipod using my radio controls so wont be able to plug both things in at the same time.

just get one of these.. thats what i have.. well not exactly the same one but very similar.. and it has a built in mic.. and it has that button.. so you could still be listening to your music in the car and then when someone calls u can talk to them on speaker through the whole car system

I'd love an option actually that allowed you to remap the volume control in the iPod app (or while it is sleeping) to next/prev track...so long as when its not acting as an iPod they controlled volume control.

Something like that would make it easier to use in a pocket as well, since typically I set the volume once and leave it, but I am always skipping or repeating tracks (which was easier on my nano than my iPhone).

Bump. I'd really like this to be done too.
