[Cisco VPN] Legality question on decoding pcf file
Yo peeps
What's happenin'?
I have a quick question to which i can find no answer, or to which no one i ask knows.
When using the 2.0 Cisco VPN, you need the group password. This can only be obtained through the .pcf file. Unfortunatly, you need to decode this password to be able to authenticate it through the server.
Is decoding this password illegal? I am not quite sure as there are tons and tons of websites out there that just offer a one-touch system where you input the encrypted- password and it spits out the non-encrypted one. Also, I remember reading somewhere documentation by Cisco on how to do this...
Thanks

It is not illegal to decode the secret password from the .pcf file. However, your company or school may have some fine print somewhere that says something about tampering with files is not allowed and action can be taken such as getting fired or kicked out of school. I doubt either would happen and there is also no proof that you decoded it unless your IT department knows that there is no way possible to import a .pcf file into an Iphone. If you have ever imported a .pcf file you will notice that the secret password is in ********** format and is the same length as the decrypted password and not the long crypted version.
