I have an iPhone 3gs 16 gb, fw 4.1, bb 5.14.02 and its unlocked to my carrier, no problem. Ok, i jailbreaked my phone, and when i'm trying to activate with my sim, does no work. i hacktivate the iphone but now when I'm entering settings carrier appears and dissapears. in general -> about carrier : not avaible, before my carrier name. What should I do? Btw the phone doesnt read the sim, the contacts... sorry about my english, not native...

What did you jailbreak with? redsn0w 0.9.6b2, greenpois0n, limera1n, pwnagetool 4.1.x, sn0wbreeze 2.1?

If you can activate legitimately, you should always do that before jailbreaking.

You said it was locked to your carrier, that means you can activate legitimately
